JUSTYNA SKATULNIK
historical violinist
Justyna Skatulnik was born in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland. Scholarship holder of National Culture Center (2016) and the Łódź Province Marshal (2014). In 2008 she began studying violin at the Academy
of Music in Łódź. As well as performing modern repertoire, she has become increasingly interested in early music. Working with top experts in this field inspired her to begin studying baroque violin
at the Academy of Music in Łódź under the guidance of Judyta Tupczyńska. She has taken part in workshops and artistic sessions of early music in Poland and Germany (29. International Händel Academy in Karlsruhe, Ensemble-Akademie with Freiburger Barockorchester, Bach Academy with Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin).
In 2014 she moved to Germany to study baroque violin at
the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Richard Gwilt. In 2015 she reached the finals of Deutscher Musikwettbewerb with the German ensemble Gradus ad Parnassum. Also in 2015, Cordatus, a trio she
co-founded, won first prize in the Poznań chamber music competition „Early Music Forum”.
In the season 2015/16 Justyna was a member of European Union Baroque Orchestra. She now performs with Concerto Köln, Gaechinger Cantorey and with Cölner Barockorchester and Vasa Consort as their concertmaster.
